Hotpants Romance

Described by Manchester’s evening post as “Manchester’s greatest ever girl group”, Hotpants Romance made up of three lovely looking Mancunians, Kate Armitage, Laura Skilbeck and Lowri Evans, who debut album “It’s a heat wave” backs this up with great authority.

The album is made up of Shouty (sometimes off key)harmonies, indie riffs and cheeky lyrics, which all in all makes for an absolutely endearing listen and is Made from Plastic’s most played album of April.

Alternative Fashion Week Report

Spitalfields Alternative Fashion week has sadly been and gone now but those who took our advice and pulled their finger out, were able to enjoy a rich crop talent, showcasing innovative, exciting and mostly wearable collections.

For most of the designers it was their first show as graduates, with the majority of models used being novices, who were trained for free by a choreographer employed by Alternative Arts. Made from Plastic were however disappointed with the lack of menswear collections but their was plenty on show to keep us occupied.

Levis Strauss & Co x Damien Hirst

One of the hottest collaborations of the year, which has got Made from Plastic very excited involves Damien Hirst and Levis Strauss & Co. This collaboration is split into two, which follows the theme of oxymoron, with the first part named skull and the other part named butterfly, which continue with Hirst’s fascination with colour. The skulls adorn most pieces, with bright flourishes of colour on both sections.

This collaboration has already been championed by Ian Brown and Frank Music so hurry and get yourself a piece of truly limited edition clothing.

Micachu

Micachu and The Shapes are yet another band taking part in the future pop frontier and making everyone's best new band list in the process. Their debut album is entitled jewellery, which is jam packed with fidgety guitars, warm swoons, big electronics and a variety of unidentifiable sounds and makes for a very addictive forward sounding listen.
