Cobrasnake

As much as Made from Plastic loves the odd designer piece you can’t beat vintage clothing and accessories, with all their character and ability to set an outfit off. There are many places Made from Plastic loves to get its vintage fix but one of its favourites has to be Cobrasnake’s shop, with the Cobrasnake site itself consisting of photos of all the best hipsters out and about town, encapsulating the best, the worst and the very drunk.

Cobrasnake’s vintage shop has some absolute gems, which you wouldn’t find after trailing through a million charity shops, as well as their own designs which all limited edition and true head turners when worn. Made from Plastic is urging you to update your summer wardrobe with something vintage from Cobrasnake or one of their quirky designs.

Yuksek

Yuksek originally started making waves with his electro wizardry, with remixes of Mika, Kaiser Chiefs and Ghostface Killah and more notably his fiery live sets, which have been said to take you on a musical journey. Yuksek's debut album “Away From The Sea” reflects an array of influences and styles, all bound together with an uplifting spirit, that is laden with pop hooks, dance floor fillers, catchy melodies and big name guests including Spank Rock, Chromeo and Shit Disco.

Yuksek is now signed to Fiction, which is home to White Lies, Snow Patrol and Filthy Dukes, so Made from Plastic is just giving you a gentle nudge in his direction.

Ryan Noon

Made from Plastic is absolutely loving the hand printed T-shirts from Central Saint Martin’s graduate Ryan Noon, the fashion designer and multimedia artist is best known for mixing absurdity between animals and menswear. His designs are very contemporary, with the print often having a very original composition.

Ryan Noon is still very early on in his already blossoming career but he has already worked for Alexander McQueen, Henrik Vibskov and Ziad Ghanem as well as many outdoor installations and film projects, with lots more in the works so watch this space.

You Can Find Inspiration In Everything: and If You Can't Look Again!

You Can Find Inspiration In Everything: and If You Can’t, Look Again is far from a fashion monograph, this book translates Paul Smith's brain on to the page, presenting original and often humorous thoughts and ideas in shop windows, in advertising campaigns, in photographs and souvenirs brought back from world travels.

In addition to texts and images by Paul Smith himself, collaborations include: an account of his teenage obsession with cycling by Richard Williams, sports writer on the Guardian; two posters; and The Bunny, a comic book within the book, complete with a cryptic crossword, puzzles, a fold-out board game and illustrations by various acclaimed artists and designers. This is already Made from Plastic book of the year and is sure it will be yours.

Terryworld

Terryworld is a excellent book celebrating the wonderful world of Terry Richardson, which features porn stars, supermodels, transsexuals, hillbillies, friends, pets, and celebrities who all do for his lens what they will do for no other.

Who is Terry Richardson, Made from Plastic can hear you ask.....................well Terry Richardson is the man who made trailer park sexy, merged sex and fashion, can regularly be found in Vogue, Harpers Bazaar, Vice and most notably the current issue GQ Style, continually getting his kit off and runs a very successful X-rated website and this is just a snippet of the Terry’s world, the world where taboos don’t exist. Now if that's not a reason to buy a book then Made from Plastic doesn’t know what is.

Rockers NYC

Rockers NYC originally began as a streetwear brand and have since moved on to become a much more high end label in many circles. Rockers NYC though do what they do because they love fashion and the creativity that comes with it. Every season, they try to come with original ideas and aesthetics, and above all to stay true to themselves.

Their latest season has seen them go back to their musical roots, which Made from Plastic is very happy about as it has produced their favourite collection to date.

The Big Book Of Legs

"The Big Book Of Legs" is the next installment from Dian Hanson, with previous efforts including "The Big Book Of Breasts" and "The Big Penis Book" (can you sense a theme here). This effort though is a smorgasbord of beautiful body parts. Taking in everything from naughty French postcards to Bond girls and burlesque pin-up Bettie Page. This is a tribute to the dynamic combination of stockings, suspenders and lovely long limbs.

Plain Gravy

Plain Gravy is a relatively new brand set up by Todd Tourso, who was originally a commercial designer and artist. Plain Gravy set out to make interesting and original prints, with their tees not following current trends as they march to beat of their own drum.

They mix aggressiveness, romanticism, wit and humour to make contemporary designs, with more value placed on the quality of the fabric and the fit of the T-shirt ensuring that the garment is truly original and of the utmost quality. Made from Plastic recommends you treat yourself to an absolute head turner of a summer tee.

Pegleg NYC

PegLeg NYC is a real lifestyle brand, who merges nostalgia with contemporary. Their collections are very print lead, which are often very fun and colourful. Their sweaters/knitwear are Made from Plastics personal favourites but with their Spring/Summer 09 collection, which features some innovative and quirky designs, Made from Plastic can feel its mind swaying.

Over The Stripes

Over The Stripes is another Japanese brand producing quality prints, with an undertone of humour. The lead designer is Tamotsu Omine, whose designs are very pop art like, often taking iconic pop culture films, music etc as inspiration and translating it onto a T-shirt in their own quirky way. An Over The Stripes T-shirt is a must for the summer season.

Made from Plastic’s favourites include:

Snob Scrilla

Snob Scrilla and his helping hands, The Blueberry Think Tank are another one that needs to be added to your one to watch list with their, indie, hip hop, 80’s synth and all together relatively new sound, which can't be type cast. Snob Scrilla has a new EP out soon so make sure its in your record colletion.

Bag Raiders

Bag Raiders are just three years into their career and are already Sydney’s new dance floor princes. Made from Plastic were first alerted to Bag Raiders after their “Fun Punch” EP, which certainly did the rounds, with their synthesizer heavy “Turbo Love” following.

Bag Raiders also have quite the live reputation, with their live re-workings of original and remixed track, complete with bells and whistles. Bag Raiders are certainly ones to watch with a new track coming out on A-Trak and CatchdubsFools Gold” label.
