Love Thy Neighbour couldn’t be a more apt name for the Australian clothing label that are all about love and peace, with their idealistic views, which may not have changed the world, but did give it a damn fine clothing label. The Antlers are Brooklyn based band, who are made up of Peter Silberman, Michael Lerner and Darby Cicci. They combine indie/ambience with subtle and frail vocals to create very honest, intimate and beautiful music. Starstyling is the lovechild of designing duo Katia Schlegel and Kai Seifried, who have a real diversity and aura of fun to their collections and design. They often march to the beat of their own drum but still produce interesting and innovative pieces, taking inspiration from literally everything, including your gran’s doyleys. Sydney based label Saint Augustine Academy, mixes edgy tailoring with the vast genres of Rock ‘n Roll, whilst combining lean colour palettes and an acute attention for detail to create the ultimate indie kid’s fashion label. Not only are music lovers fans, but the bands themselves, with the likes of The Bravery, Hot Hot Heat and The Horrors readily seen “rocking” the label.
Sydney based label Popissue is the brain child of Konrad Opala and since it began in 2005 it has steadily become one of the most sophisticated and cutting edge brands about. Popissue focuses of premium quality fabrics and flattering cuts, exciting prints that combine hand drawn imagery and pop art, whilst mixing street, sensibility and laid-back tailoring. Pete Versus Toby was born in Australia in 2006 by a group of young artists whose designs reflect their “futuristic hippy” lifestyles. Their designs are often very print led, with them taking on many different forms, such as punk, street, psychedelic, spiritual and even poking fun at current pop culture icons. When Pete Versus Toby do venture away from the prints, they continue to amaze with some interesting and exciting pieces of modern tailoring.
