We Make T-shirts, pretty self explanatory really but don’t be fooled by the simple name as their designs command much more respect. We make T-shirts is the love child of Tony, Gill and Mike, who gave birth during their University life and it has continued to grow. As you all may know Made from Plastic loves a good tee so be sure to check them out and their docu-film on how they make their T-shirts.

Art Against Knives
Whilst there are many charities out there all working towards a great cause, Made from Plastic was introduced to one which really hit home in Art Against Knives. The charity has followed on from the success of their celebrity fund raising art exhibition, which featured the likes of Tracey Emin, Giles Deacon, Antony Gormley, Christopher Kane and many others.
Art Against Knives itself was born out of the tragic and unprovoked stabbing Oliver Hemsley (Central St Martin’s student), which left Oliver in a wheelchair. This tragic event has spurred Oliver and his friends to create something positive in Art Against Knives, where the key focus is to bring a deep-rooted change to the community. 2010 will see Art Against Knives working Couture Lab, who will host a series of bespoke art and garment auctions online on behalf of the charity, whilst continuing to make a difference.

Ryan Noon Autumn/Winter 2010 Collection
The new Autumn/Winter 2010 collection from Ryan Noon is entitled MY TRIBE and is based on a collection of myths, tales and visceral pleasure that create a mood of thrill. The influences for this collection come from Oceanic tribal art, Morris dancing and winged creatures, as well as stories taken from Greek mythological figures Dionysus, Pan and The Minotaur.
Made from Plastic is a big fan of this collection, especially as it features collaboration from one of our favourite illustrators Adam Smith.

RE: Pokemon
Pokémon, quite possibly one of the world’s most addictive games (Second only to Pro Evo 5), have teamed up with Vice and Nintendo, who have commissioned seven artist to create a Pokémon inspired piece to celebrate the phenomena that is Pokémon. The exhibition will showcase from 24th-31st March, at Blackall Studios.

Whilst this is exhibition has got Made from Plastic very excited, but the launch night has got us extremely excited with DJ sets from Filthy Dukes, Friendly Fires and Real Gold.

Shoot My Design
Shoot My Design, by designer Athena Procopiou presents her debut scarf collection for Autumn/Winter 2010 entitled Cranes. Inspired by her sister, Christina’s photography, which is dark and intriguing and resonates similarly with her own design technique, illustrating something that could be so hard, could also be so beautiful. The designs themselves are very edgy and dark, produced on beautiful fabrics offering function and indulgence.
