Take Ivy was originally published in Japan in 1965, setting off an explosion of American-influenced “Ivy Style” fashion among students in the trendy Ginza shopping district of Tokyo. The product of four sartorial style enthusiasts, Take Ivy is a collection of candid photographs shot on the campuses of America’s elite, Ivy League universities. To celebrate the re-release of Take Ivy at Power House Books, Aclaim Mag asked UK boutique Coggles to take some of their favourite images from the book and give their own contemporary reinterpretations to outstanding results.

T-shirt Deli
The T-shirt Deli opened in November of 2003, with the intention of finding a way for Chicago to customize their T-shirts in a truly novel way. So they searched far and wide for gleaming white deli cases, rolls of perfectly waxed butcher paper, brightly coloured stickers, and open-air wicker baskets to display our freshest selection of tees.

True Prep
From Lisa Birnbach, the author of The Official Preppy Handbook—and designer Chip Kidd—comes a whole new take on the prep world that Birnbach turned into an international best-selling phenomenon thirty years ago.
True Prep (Knopf publishing) is a contemporary look at how the old guard of natural-fiber-loving, dog-worshipping, G&T-soaked preppies adapt to the new order of things. Birnbach considers the prep attitude towards money (ambivalent), schools (good investment), wardrobe (now your clothes fit), work (some careers will never be prep), decorating (ask mummy), scandal (including rehab and prison), and food and drink (with some classic recipes for both). She also looks at weekends (and what to do to get asked back), entertaining, sports (including sailing and shopping), weddings, etiquette, the Internet and electronic gadgetry, political correctness, reality TV, and . . . polar fleece. And last but not least: a do-it-yourself eulogy.

James Unsworth
James Unsworth grew up in Liverpool with two older brothers who fed him on a diet of Thrash Metal, Clive Barker, Stephen King and Video Nasties. This culture stirred in the artist a curiosity about the extremes of the human condition and eventually drew him to London to study fine art at The Royal College of Art.
With his work filled with hyper-unreal depictions of murder, sex and dismemberment, comic/horrific figures engaged in acts of disembowelment, degradation and desecration. James Unsworth’s work tries to challenge and question current ideas about taboo, sexuality, beauty, stereotypes, repression and fantasy.
In keeping with his forte, his latest exhibition at The Five Hundred Dollars Club sees child hood favourite Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles engaging in all manner of sex acts, across a range of media from delicate lines to garish lo-res graphics and set design, challenging childhood memories.
