Bespoke Boutique: Interview

Made from Plastic has recently been chatting to the guys down Bespoke Boutique about the fantastic Spring/Summer collections they have in. They were also kind enough to answer a few questions about how they got started and what’s in next for them.

What made you want to start your own clothing store?
A Pure lack of seeing anyone try anything different. there's only so much you can take before you snap and open a clothing store. My thoughts are if you're an independent store then be independent, but so many play it safe and come off looking like the high streets ugly brother.

What’s your favourite clothing store other than Bespoke Boutique?
Definitely Bstore in Mayfair, it's only small but has a real tight, edited selection of some really interested collections...Most of them dont receive the praise they deserve.

What’s your favourite brand?

At the moment it's tuesday night band practise. It's the only brand I know of which holds a gritty rock n' roll feel whilst remaining on the border of being commercial.

Favourite piece of clothing you own and piece you want to own if money was no object?
My favourite piece of clothing at the moment our my chronicles of never jeans. They change what they look like pretty much by the day. If I could own any item of clothing it would be the coat Al Pacino wears in donnie brasco...I think there is a similar one in the pendleton meets opening ceremony collection last year...but i missed out.

What’s next for Bespoke Boutique?
Well we're going to continue introducing new brands to the store and the UK, we have some exciting new lines coming for AW10. You should see a new website up before the end of this year (we're still in the planning phase). We're also going to expand our womenswear offering with a couple of new labels.

Any chance of a bespoke Boutique own label clothing line?
That would be telling ;)....

Who are you personal style icons?
Ok, tough choice. I would have to go with Bob Dylan, Alison Mosshart (I think any guy could dress like her and look awesome) and Buddy Holly.

What do you think you would be doing if you didn’t own Bespoke Boutique?
Probably still working for high street chains making windows look pretty...and banging my head against a wall.

What advice would you give to someone who wants to start their own clothing store?
Don't listen to business advisers, Don't buy what you "think" will sell...just buy what you love. learn and love your product. Kill the competition haha.
